Inquirer Article: Mental Illness, Promise, Frustration and Tragedy

Melissa Dribben has done an extensive Philadelphia Inquirer article on Zal Chapgar (son of two of our F2F graduates who jumped from the 33rd floor of Loew's Hotel on December 1) and mental illness.

Follow this link to read the complete article.

I was glad to see her pointing out how mental illness strikes young people, especially in the late teens and early 20's (transition age youth), and how incidents such as VA Tech prevent people from acknowledging their illness and seeking help.

The point about the parents not being able to get information from the school on their son's condition was also poignant. She interviewed Ken Duckworth from NAMI and mentioned our family support groups-- hopefully this will direct more people to seek the support that other family members provide.
