Learn about Metabolic Syndrome March 15
Adults with serious mental illness have a lifespan that is 15% to 25% shorter than average. Metabolic Syndrome, an indicator of increased risk for heart disease, stroke and vascular disease, and Type 2 Diabetes is a root cause of this reduction in lifespan. Please join Dr. Jack Gomberg and Kirsten Mermagen as they discuss Metabolic Syndrome and other health hazards unique to those struggling with mental illness. Dr. Gomberg and Ms. Mermagen will explore recent advances in wellness-based psychiatric recovery and will cover the complementary roles of nutrition, mindfulness and spirituality in a wellness-based approach to recovery.
